It’s time to show the Huntington Beach City Council that you support Parkside Estates as it votes June 16 on approval of the Coastal Commission’s changes to the Local Coastal Program allowing the development of Parkside Estates.

This is a go/no-go vote! If the City Council doesn’t approve the Coastal Commission’s changes in their entirety, the entire process starts over from scratch – which means more years of delay until Huntington Beach residents can realize the flood safety protections and flood insurance relief Parkside Estates will bring.

Please send an e-mail to the City Council TODAY to encourage them to vote yes! It’s simple and quick – and the City Council needs to hear from you! Click here to e-mail a letter.

Please attend the City Council hearing to show your support! Click here to let us know if you plan to attend the hearing.

City Council Hearing
6 p.m., June 16, 2008
City Council Chambers
2000 Main Street, HB

City Council approval will make the benefits of the Parkside Estates plan closer than ever, including:

  • 23 acres dedicated to natural resource protection, with new wetlands and environmentally sensitive habitat and buffers.

  • $15 million in improvements to regional and local flood control infrastructure that could remove about 7,000 Huntington Beach homes and businesses from the flood zone.

  • Elimination of mandatory flood insurance for approximately 7,000 homes and businesses. (Premium reduction or elimination is subject to the terms of each individual’s mortgage and the policies of each individual’s lenders.) To see the changes to the flood map, click here.

  • Protection from tidal surge flooding for approximately 800 homes north and east of the Parkside site.

  • Beautiful new homes near the beach and the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve.
